About the designer:

The via SMiTH label is the shared love of creating - of both designer and maker.

Our pieces are the result of my love to ‘play’ with shape and form and our silver-smiths’ incredible skills to then interpret and create.

The name via SMiTH is simply because our pieces happen via Michelle SMITH and our silver SMITHS.

My whole life has been art.  Making, learning, teaching, producing and now selling.  There’s not been a time that I haven’t used art – for designing, for teaching, for building, and for work.  For me jewellery is wearable art and so must be well designed… simple but thoughtful, balanced but interesting, classic but new.

The via SMiTH shapes are my play on simple geometry, with the added fun of texture and colour. Layers and lines, silvers and golds, bold shapes and small - it’s a labour of love for me and hopefully a treat for you.

The Halcyon Ring

The Halcyon ring was so named to mimic the positivity of is design. Many elements combine here to create a surprisingly peaceful ring – the smooth oval peridot taking centre stage.

The main silver band has a hammered finished with a smooth thin outer band of flat brass. The claw style bezel is rustic and bold and holds the moon-like peridot.

(We choose to use yellow brass in our rings, rather than gold plate, because of its longevity. Brass will not colour fade or wear. We encourage our customers to wear their via SMiTH rings everywhere, all the time.)

The Halcyon - Garnet comes in four sizes:

Extra Large – US 10 / AUST T ½ (19.8mm Dia)

Large – US 9 / AUST R ½ (18.9MM Dia)

Medium – US 7.5 / AUST O ½ (17.7mm Dia)

Small – US 6 / AUST L ½ (16.5mm Dia)

Materials & Care

This ring is made of a combination of .925 sterling silver and yellow brass, therefore there will be NO fading or wearing of colour even if worn everyday.

If you leave/don't wear your ring for a while it may become a little dull or darker due to normal oxidisation.

In this case there's 3 options:

1. polish with the cleaning cloth supplied with your order/packaging.

2. a simple soft brush/rub with normal toothpaste will instantly brighten.

3. simply ear it! your ring will regain its sparkle in 1-2 days of normal wearing and washing.
